19th. | Little Bro.

These last two weeks have been insane!! My 1st cousin got married last Sunday, my nephew's basically been living with us, and we had a 'family get together', for my sister yesterday! However, in this post, I'll get to only one matter...

My nephew is the sweetest kid on Earth. Oh, and I know what you're thinking... But seriously, he is. He's 5x more mature than any other kid his age, plus he's only 9 years old, and he really is a natural born leader. For example, we went on a bike road, not last Sunday but the Sunday before, and my brother wiped out just in front of him, thus causing him also to wreck. Did he get hurt? No. Thank God. Did my brother? Kinda. But who was my nephew more concerned about? Himself or my brother? Of course, my brother. Crazy responsible.

So, to give you the down low, his life is basically insane. His mom got married in 06', and they had a baby Feb. 08'. Mix that in with school, every day life, visiting his 'real' dad every other weekend, etc, and this kid's got one crazy life. To top it all off... He lives in Maryland. Just a reminder here, we live in Michigan. We rarely get to even see him. However, his mom does work at an airport -- thus, he does get to visit every now and again. For example? How about two weeks this summer? And here's where my post comes in.

He basically stole our hearts these last of couple weeks, and as of five o'clock today, he's taken them with him. He staying the night at a hotel, and leaves early in the morning to head back to home. For me, it really wasn't THAT emotional. That is, until he made it 'that' emotional. I went to the bathroom to go wash my hands, and as I come out I saw him putting down his shirt and putting back on his glasses. They had been giving him an awful time as of late, the glasses that is, so I asked him what was the matter. With watery eyes, he dared not say a word. Shook his head, and said nothing. But he didn't need to say anything. The look on his face said it all. He was crying. He'd had the best to weeks of his life and now... It was all over. We all got our 'good-bye' hugs, and he barely said a word. I helped him put his suitcase in the back of the car and just simply watched him. I remember telling him, "Alright now. You go grow up. Get big and tall." And just before they pulled away down the driveway, I looked at him one last time. As if, to take an imaginary picture. I looked at him, and said, "Alright, I remember you now." By that I simply meant, next time I see you, you'll look almost totally different. But for now, I remember you the way you were.

I even did him one last favor. I pretended it didn't hurt watching him leave.
